What’s the solenoid valve?

A solenoid valve, sometimes called an electro valve or magnetic valve, is electomechanically operated by running an electric current through a solenoid. The current creates an electromagnetic field which actuates the plunger in a pneumatic or hydraulicsolenoid valve. A two port valve switches the flow on or off, whereas a three way solenoid valve switches the outflow between two outlet ports. Solenoid valves are most frequently used in fluidics applications to shut off, release, dose, distribute, or mix fluids.

Control solenoid valve can regulate flow control, pressure relief, or directional control, and have a multitude of uses. A solenoid control valve is used for dishwashers and washing machines where the electromagnetic valve controls water entry. Hydraulic solenoid valves are often used in vehicles with automatic transmissions. Solenoids are used commonly to control pneumatic or hydraulic systems, and they are often used in conjunction with larger valves. They are used in refrigeration, metered batching systems, boiler feeds, bulk materials transfer, deluge systems, chemical handling, and many other applications.

A solenoid valve, otherwise known as an electrically-operated valve, is an automatic valve that removes the need for an engineer to operate a valve manually. Solenoids operate using an electromagnetic solenoid coil to change the state of a valve from open to closed, or vice-versa.If the solenoid valve is ‘normally closed’, when the coil is energised, the valve gets lifted open by the electromagnetic force produced by the coil.
